Mardi Gras Party

Semi-Finalist, 2012 Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize.

I’m pleased to announce that a photograph of mine has been selected as a semi-finalist in the 2012 Moran Contemporary Photographic Competition. The Moran Arts Foundation describes the Moran Prizes as “the world’s most prestigious and highly awarded“.

Here’s the image – it’s from the 2012 Mardi Gras Party and it was taken for Dirty Queer Magazine:

Mardi Gras Party, 2012

I was a finalist in the 2011 Moran Contemporary Photographic Competition.

Some of the public feedback on this image, and the set it came from, has been amazing:

Brian W-C, 5 March 2012: “Some really, really amazing shots of the MG party – not tinsel and bullshit, just a unique and evocative angle. Top job Morgan.”

Billy Chant, 5 March 2012: “Sometimes bright flash domes ,swirly lights, tilting & duck faces is all you get to see…This is some seriously good stuff and great observational snappery. Then again, it’s by Morgan Carpenter. ’nuff said.”

Richard Prekodravac, 5 March 2012: “Quite moody almost other worldly.”

Thanks so much!
