On Friday 18 September, a side event was held at the Palais des Nations, Geneva, for the 30th UN Human Rights Council with intersex human rights defenders from five continents.
Morgan Carpenter (Australia) moderated a panel featuring (left to right in the image above, with Morgan on the left) Kimberly Zieselman (Advocates for Informed Choice, US), Dan Ghattas (OII Europe, Germany), Hiker Chiu (Oii-Chinese, Taiwan), and Julius Kaggwa (Support Initiative for People with atypical Sex Development, Uganda). The event was very kindly supported by ILGA and COC Netherlands. Thanks also to Mauro Cabral Grinspan of Justicia Intersex/GATE.

The event followed statements to the 30th Human Rights Council and an intersex expert meeting by the UN high Commissioner for Human Rights, Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein, earlier in the same week. The first intersex side event at the UN Human Rights Council took place on 11 March 2014.
